We design, print and publish beautiful books.

Our Services

Writing a book is hard. Getting it produced can be even harder.

We bring the craft of professional design to independent and self-published books of every genre, with end-to-end support along the journey.

Who We Work With

Everyone has a story to tell.

  • Phillippe Messer, co-author of Colours of the Coast, with our founder Liam Stritt

    Writers

If you write, you’re a writer. We’re here to empower you, to amplify your voice, and help you realise your creative vision. That’s what we did for Phillippe and his co-authors.

  • Central Coast Creative Writers Group, authors of What Shapes Us

    Writers Groups

If your writers group is looking to assemble an anthology or collection, we’d love to help. In fact, we got started thanks to the Central Coast Creative Writers Group here.

  • Michael Shaw, entrepreneur and author of Property with Purpose

    Entrepreneurs

Publishing a book can help you build trust and authority with potential clients, attract leads into your network, and position you as a thought leader. We helped Michael here do just that.

  • Colina Grant from Parramatta Arts Society, author of Drawn Together

    Organisations

Whether you’re a business or a non-profit, an architecture firm or an artists collective, we can support you. Just like we did for Colina here at the Parramatta Arts Society.

Author's Testimonial

“I began to give out some of my books today. Some I've posted to friends today who live far away, but I had the pleasure of giving a copy to two of my older grandchildren, aged 22 and 20 years.”

“They were really delighted to have a copy, which surprised me. My intention was to put a copy into each of the 10 family history folders that I've compiled, one for each child and grandchild. I didn't really expect any of my grandchildren to want to read the book now. So that was just delightful!

“Thank you again for your help, encouragement and support. I'm really delighted with the finished work Liam, it's just lovely. Much better than I ever imagined or expected!!”

Here’s how we work together.

Our Process

Our simple 5-step process ensures we create a book that you’re proud to share.

  • Let’s address the essentials: what size, format and paper stocks are best for your book? Liam will guide you with recommendations all the way. We’ll consider the best balance of price and quality that suits your project.

  • First we need to get your manuscript ready to import into our page layout software! We combine all your work into one document, add any introductory pages, and perform a comprehensive spell-check.

  • Now the fun begins: we'll design your book cover, and lay out the interior contents. This is a collaborative process, and we encourage you to share your feedback.

  • We work with a local specialist bookbinder, Aburra Press, to customise your book’s specs and make sure everything’s just right. We’ll also send you a physical proof (test print) to review.

  • Your books have arrived! Now it’s time to share them with the world. If we’ve discussed sales support, this is when we’ll step in to help you sell your books.

Book Design & Print Services

Our Solutions

Core Services

  • Books come in many sizes. But what size and format is appropriate for your book? Liam will recommend what’s best, based on factors such as your book’s category, word-count, and target audience. We’ll also choose which format/s are best: paperback, hardcover, eBook, or another alternative.

  • A well-designed book cover communicates the tone of a book and infuses it with another layer of meaning, so it can connect with readers who’ll love it inside and out. By taking the time to discuss the story behind your book, Liam will design a cover that looks and feels just right.

  • If your manuscript is split into multiple pieces – such as an anthology, poetry collection, or essay series – we’ll put it all together in one document. We’ll also add in the front matter: these are the initial pages before the book begins, such as ‘About the Author’, the title page, the imprint (copyright page), and a dedication.

  • Formatting a book’s interior can be a tedious, intricate process. But we love it! Fret not over margins, page numbers, running headers. We’ll choose a font size and style that’s appropriate for your book’s contents and your desired readership.

  • Liam started policing the English language at age 5, when his kindergarten teacher made a spelling error on the chalkboard. Since then, he’s been hunting down typos with all the fervour of Captain Ahab.

(Note: we don’t use AI tools for spell-checking without your explicit permission, and we don’t edit out stylistic choices.)

  • We love paper more than Michael Scott. And you’d be shocked to know just how many different types of paper stock exist! That’s why we take the time to talk with our print specialist, to select the appropriate paper for both your book cover and its interior.

  • We partner with a local Australian short-run book printing specialist, Aburra Press, a member of the NSW Guild of Craft Bookbinders. They offer excellent production quality and attention to detail, and will create a test-print (known as a ‘proof’) before sending your book into full production.

Optional Add-ons

  • The International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a standard identifier assigned to published works, used by libraries, bookstores and retailers across the globe. You’ll need one for each format in which your book is distributed — e.g. one for the paperback, one for the hardcover.

  • Special print finishes on your book cover (like gold foil or spot UV) are usually reserved for mass-market books with large print runs. But we challenge that. Your book’s appearance deserves as much attention to detail as you’ve put into crafting the words.

  • Managing book sales can be a headache. We can discuss and recommend whether to sell your book in-person, on our Genreless website, via Amazon, or elsewhere — and can manage that process on your behalf.

  • We can facilitate shipping and delivery to 5 major English-speaking countries: Australia, USA, Canada, UK, and Ireland. (Support for more countries is on its way – please get in touch if you’re curious.)

  • If your book requires illustration, we have a network of talented illustrators we can partner with to support your project. Whether you’re looking to include illustrated moments in your novel, or perhaps dreaming up a children's book, your imagination is the only limit.

Words from our clients.

  • “Easy to work with, great communication, fantastic work! Thoroughly recommend!”

    Michael Shaw

  • “I've worked with a lot of designers over the years... I like how Liam thinks things through and takes initiative to make the end result look better. Liam, you're simply the best!”

    Karen Maher

  • Conor Wynn

“The nice thing about working with Liam is that he cares. He's easy to work with and turns things around really quickly too. I recommend Liam for quality work.”

FAQs

That stands for ‘Frequently Asked Questions,’
in case you were… asking.

  • Well, yes and no. Let’s explain:

We work together with writers to publish their works by offering services like design and print, but we don’t take editorial control like a traditional publisher would.

To be more accurate, you could refer to our process as “co-publishing” – but we use the term “self-publishing” because it’s more well-known, and well-understood.

If you want to publish without having to pitch, get an agent, work with an editor and go through the whole rigmarole — but you want support making your book a real, beautiful thing — consider us!

  • You, the author! As the author, you retain full copyright to your work. In legal-speak, it is your ‘intellectual property.’ You are the owner. This means you have the right to reproduce any part of your book you want, anywhere you want.

We advise against publishing your entire work online, for obvious reasons… but we can’t stop you! All of this is established in the copyright page of your book.

  • Yes — we offer both!

Our founder Liam is a formally qualified visual designer, and has been a full-time professional since 2020. Prior to that, he began self-publishing his own writing in 2017.

If your book requires illustration, we have a network of talented illustrators we can partner with to support your project. Whether you’re looking to include illustrated moments in your novel, or perhaps dreaming up a children's book, your imagination is the only limit.

  • In short — no.

We do not accept writing projects whose final outcomes were created using generative AI. Not only does this go against our belief in the power and importance of human creativity — it also puts us at serious legal risk, if and when future legislation addresses generative writing.

However, if you used AI-based tools for brainstorming, ideation, or to learn general principles about the writing craft, that is fine; so long as the tool didn’t do the actual writing for you.

  • Absolutely. And there are a few ways to approach this.

Option 1: Sell in our bookstore.
If you publish with Genreless, you can choose to sell your books via our bookstore, and we’ll provide you a shared percentage of profits.

    Option 2: Sell directly yourself.
Alternatively, you can pay for printing costs, and sell directly to readers yourself. This is more hassle and upfront expense for you, although you do retain more profit for each unit.

    Option 3: Do both!
We’re happy to discuss with you and make a genuine recommendation on what we think is best. We’re here to support you on whatever path you want to take.

  • That depends on several factors, including the size of your book and chosen materials. Usually, it ends up around $10 per copy for a 200-page paperback when you order 100 copies. Liam will help you find the best balance of quality and price to suit your budget.

  • That depends on the size of your book. However, if we use a 200-page paperback as an example:

    • Cover Design & Manuscript Formatting: 2-4 weeks from kick-off date

    • Print Production: 1-2 weeks after files are sent

If you need your book turned around quicker, we are sometimes able to accommodate – however, a rush fee may apply.
